I REALLY enjoyed creating this watercolor for the simple fact that it came out so well! I painted it the first day I recieved my watercolor pack from Ryman Arts (Intermediate). I came home, opened the package, and started painting the first thing I saw; a mug full of pens on my desk! =) The lighting was just right, and I was in the mood and very motivated. I ended up giving this painting to my mom for a Christmas gift when I went back up North to the Bay Area.

Today I did this piece in a classroom while the rest of my school was in an assembly. You can see this scenery across the street from my school in Gardena. I finished in about 25 minutes with pastels I found in an Art classroom on a big piece a matting paper. I gave it to my friend Dejon afterwards. It was Fun!

I created this piece on a light blue 8x12 construction paper i found waiting for me on my desk at school.. there was a stack of them, all in assorted colors, and i felt it was DESTINED for me to find them. lol As you can tell from a number of pieces below, I try to use a variety of different foundation colors to experiment with temperatures. I constantly run back and forth to Michael's or Aaron Bros to buy large pieces of thick paper, ride them back home on my bike, and by the time I get back home, the paper is either wet from rain, wrinkled from the ride, or permanently 'curved'.. It was always a huge project for me to start another scenery on BIG paper, so I wouldnt attempt them all the time. Now you see why it was Destined to find these papers. It only took me about an hour and a half because of its smaller size, unlike the usual 'week-long project', and it was small enough to be scanned!.. I was motivated, and was able to put all my ideas of colors on paper quickly..
I will be making a series of these, (or until I run out of colored construction paper). I'll probably be going back to the Art store to buy construction paper instead, no more warped and rounded paper!!.. =]

Today I had class at Ryman Arts (Advanced painting), and my teacher did a demo for us with a model, so
Here it is..

He was teaching us how to create the definite shapes of the shadows..
He's SOO skilled!

The Mind is Time, The Mind is Space

Completing this self portrait put me on another level technically as well as personally..
This piece means so much to me that I have it displayed on my bedroom wall where I can see it every morning.
I felt trapped, crazy, and insane when creating this. I dont know if its a normal adolescent thing, but I honestly belived that I was out of my mind, Hence the Screaming.
I'm a relatively quiet individual; interpretting lessons of life during lunch breaks and class hours.
Around this time I was consistanly reading on Nibiru(Planet X) which is supposedly a planet that will orbit into our solar system in 2012 and cause armaggeddon. "Why does this has to happen??. Everything that I've pursued or dreampt doesnt matter. I wish there were a way to stop this", hence the Straightjacket and Planets.
If you can see, There is an akwardly placed planet right above Earth; which I am staring directly at. This is 'Planet X'.
I also have my astrological sign 'Scorpio' patterned behind me.
As you can see, it's very dear to me..

This is a weird but cool piece I made after a day of visiting different galleries in the bay area with my mom during winter break of 09. I was inspired by the paintings, and how the artists made it so important to get across a message in their art. Their art had so much significance!
so i came home and created the FIRST thing that came to mind.. I was SO TIRED of instructors telling me how and what to draw.. So i made what came naturally.

There isnt an EXACT meaning, its just that I was going thru this phase (still am) where I drew the anatomy (or what I thought it looked like)..
I was also reading this book where it talked alot about how "the human mind is the most destructive weapon to man".. so I made the connection..

Aside from the 'Creation' story, I always also wondered how the human mind/ body is connected with the universe. I hear alot about how we're "stardust" or "space matter", so I kinda got that off my chest with this piece..

ok, This piece was a COMPLETE experiment.. First of all, I used Orange paper (never done before, only purple, like the piece on the very bottom)and I tried different techniques of cross-hatching... I think I'm getting pretty good at these scenaries.. They look 'Pro-ish'... =] and I actually sold it! yeeeah!! one of my classmates (Alan) mother requested something of my choosing, and since I already had started on this, I thought I'd just finish then sell it.
She requested another one, but this time, it has to do something with kids playing basketball... I'm still brainstorming on how i'll execute it though..

Obviously, not a Ryman Arts Advanced Painting piece, though, I should be doing it.. lol

This was my last artwork create for Ryman Arts Intermediate (late 08). I experimented with a different technique (as you can tell with the multi-colored crosshatching on the face). The assignment was "Self-Portrait", pretty broad, huh. So... I went all out! =]

This is one of my personal favorites.. This IS what I see outside of my window... I'm looking at the real thing right now...lol I remember seeing the sunset everyday aroung 7:30pm saying "I gotta do that sunset, I gotta do that sunset.." and eventually, I did!! It wasnt an assignment for Ryman Arts Intermediate, But I think I did it while I was suppose to be doing another...=] I eventually used it for a HW replacement when we had an assignment that was similar to what this piece executed...
Took about 3 hours, Pastel, and used a few light marks and highlights on photoshop... (fyi, photoshop is NOT cheating...lol its art too =])

Funky Dvd Racks =]

This piece was an assignment for Ryman Arts Intermediate. (A household object, good composition, blah blah) These are 2 racks of thee illustrious collection of DvDs my dad owns..
I put my own personality in it, emphasizing the background colors, Dvds, etc, yeah...
I call them 'The Funky Dvd Racks"
Done 18x24 in Pastel, and took nearly 4 hours!
ps (I personally like the tile work, fyi)

This Piece was done out of pure spontanaity... It was exactly one week before my Ryman Art class started back up(where i have virtually no artistic freedom) so i created this piece knowing that it would be a LONG time before I do anything out of my own pleasure.
